It’s the start of the new year, meaning reflections on the year that has past. 2018 seems like a whirlwind – both of us finished intense university courses and found ourselves being swept up in the idea of blogging towards the latter end of the year.
This post is part of a series of blogs of our best finds from 2018 – starting with Autumn/Winter outfits! I've put together my best finds as an outfit and will share these with you in this post.

Here is a picture of my favourite A/W outfit.
I have been loving switching out my uniform of skinny jeans on my bottom-half for a comfy yet fashion-forward trouser, that can be dressed up or down.
Top: New Look, £9.99
Trousers: Pull & Bear, (from Scope), £4
Trainers: Vans Classic Old Skool trainers in black and white (from Depop), £20.00
I know my top was not bought second-hand but it goes perfectly with the mustard yellow checkered pattern on the trousers! Plus, I think £9.99 for a new jumper is reasonable, I’ve now had it for 3 A/W seasons and it is going strong! I definitely got my cost per wear!
Total (excluding new purchases): Only £24!
My top tips for these finds:
Don’t only look in ‘your size’ section when thrifting. I actually sized down in my trousers! My usual rule of thumb when it comes to charity shops is to look in most clothing sections and not to just at the women’s clothes. I often find that (some) charity shops can be a lot messier and disorganised that brand/high street shops so its best to look in multiple sections. Plus things that are larger can be worn oversized and those that are male can be worn for a more ‘androgynous look’. I can fluctuate between a size 10-14 depending on the shop and cut of clothing.
Don’t be embarrassed to try things on! Otherwise, you’ll just end up wasting your money or walking away from an item unnecessarily. If there are no changing rooms (though that’s a rarity nowadays) I tend to go into a corner and try items like jumpers, outerwear and skirts on over my clothes.
If you’re after a trend-led item that you’re not certain you’ll wear next season or get your cost per wear from, like a popular pair of trainers, have a look on eBay or Depop first! I got these trainers in a very good condition for £20 whilst they cost £59.99 on Office and £60 on ASOS for a brand new pair. I saved a 1/3 and the few marks only add character and is bound to eventually happen on a brand new pair anyway!
I hope you’ve gained some inspo and new tips from this post!
